OGITECH Management Suspends Student’s Leader for Leading a Protest
The management of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa has suspended a student leader(name withheld) from the department of Business Administration and management, for leading a protest.
The school management said that the actions of the student leader caused disruption of peace and academic activities in the polytechnic community which contravenes to the oath of Matriculation as a student of the Institute to refrain from all acts of violence or other conduct likely to cause a breach of or bring the name of the Institute to disrepute, whether within or outside the Institute.
According to the document obtained by POLYTV, the student leader has now been suspended for One academic session. The school authority added that the student should not be seen in the polytechnic until next session(2022/2023)

Part of the document reads,
“The Ag Deputy Rector has approved your Suspension from the Institute. This is your involvement in unlawful protest outside the Institute gate, burnt used tyres and disrupted the peace of the Institute Community….
“This suspension is in exercise of the Powers conferred on him by the enacting law of the Institute on discipline, and by the Oath of Affirmation by you at Matriculation as a student Institute to refrain from all acts of violence or other conduct likely to cause a breach of or bring the name of the Institute to disrepute, whether within or outside the Institute.”
It added, “You are restricted from the campus. You are not to be seen anywhere near the vicinity of the Instituteyou are to resume for 2022/2023 academic session to continue your progression.”
