IMAP RECTOR’S CUP BEGINS
Speaking, Director-General Nasarawa State Market Management Bureau, Dr. Yakubu Ahmed Ubangari, who declared the event open, commended the Rector for keying into the chains of sports developments in the Polytechnic.
The 2nd Edition of Rector’s Cup of Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, Dr. Nurudeen Mu’azu Maitata is here again. It is a significant, great event that is memorable.
The idea is aimed at uniting the Polytechnic Community through sporting activities and to fetch out young talents that will represent the institution at forthcoming Nigerian Polytechnics Games Association (NIPOGA) outings.
In his opening ceremony remarks, Commissioner For Youth and Sports Development, Ja’afaru Ango commended the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata for the bold step in organizing sports activities in the institution and wished the participants all the best in the competition.
Corroborating, the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Ibrahim Uthman Angbolo urged the participants to work hard to achieve the purpose of the Rector’s Cup aimed at uniting the community through sporting activities as all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.
Addressing the participants the Rector, Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, Dr. Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata enjoined them to participate in a friendly manner in the competition and to be guided by the rules and regulations of the games, noting that the idea is to unite the Polytechnic Community and to fetch out young talents for the growth and development of the institution and the state in general.
He used the platform to laud Governor Abdullahi Sule for the support he has relentlessly accorded the institution.

He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for encouraging sporting activities in the state, calling for attention to improve sporting facilities in the Polytechnic.
On his part, Chairman IMAP Sports Advisory Committee, Dr. Timothy Allu expressed profound appreciation to the Rector and the Polytechnic Community for their commitment to sports development in the institution and for graciously approving the 2nd Edition of the Rector’s Cup.
He added that it is an annual event organised to develop students’ talents of proven integrity that will represent the institution at the forthcoming NIPOGA outings at all levels.
After minutes of the commencement of the competition, a talented player with number 5 jersey, Egah Rachel from School of Administration and Business Studies, Public Administration ND 2, scored the first goal against the School of Communication Technology, ending 2 -0.
