OGITECH LAUNCHES INITIATIVE TO STANDARDIZE TEXTBOOKS AND TEACHING AIDS

In a bid to enhance the quality of education and align with international publishing standards, the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa (OGITECH), has commenced a comprehensive overhaul of its culture of publication and production of teaching aids.
The initiative was announced by the Rector, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, during a one-day workshop themed “Mastering Textbook Writing: A Practical Guide to Crafting Publishable Higher Education Materials.” The workshop was organised by the Institute’s Sales of Textbooks Committee and held on Friday, 4th of April, 2025.
The Rector, ably represented by his Deputy, Dr. Oluyemi Odutola, emphasised the importance of standardising textbooks to conform to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) curriculum, ensuring they are practically oriented, concise, and understandable.
Renowned speakers shared their knowledge on topics such as textbook structure and content development, instructional design, publishing and distribution of textbooks.
The Chairman of the Sales of Textbooks Committee, Dr. Jacob Ajayi, commended the Institute’s Management under Dr. Abiodun Oluseye’s leadership for transforming OGITECH in various areas and striving for academic excellence among students and staff.
Barr. (Dr.) Ogunseye T. I delivered a thought-provoking lecture on “Understanding Textbooks’ Structure and Content Development,” Dr. Agbeyangi B. A. provided an in-depth teaching on “Instructional Design and Engaging Different Learners in Textbooks Writing,” Mrs. Rachel Oladejo shared her expertise on “Publishing and Distribution of Textbooks”, while Surv. Ahmed Eletu discussed the Institute’s rules on textbook sales on campus.
The workshop was well-attended by the Institute’s Principal Officers, Deans of Schools, and teaching staff, who acquired the necessary knowledge to publish standard learning materials for effective teaching in the Institute.
