OFFA POLY Management Organizes First Grand Farewell Ceremony for 12 Retirees

The Management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa has organized a befitting Grand Farewell Ceremony for staff members who retired from services of the Polytechnic between January and June, 2023.
The farewell ceremony which was first of its kind was held on Tuesday, 27th June, 2023 at the Main Boardroom.
The retirees includes; Rev. S.A. Adeyemo, Dr. Mrs. Mary Olowe, Bdlr. Anthony Otunola, Mr. B.G. Ibrahim, Mr. O.O.S. Ajayi, Dr. Segun Opaleke, Mrs. Mojisola Adetoyi, Mr. Mumuni Ahmed, Mr. Omuera, Mrs. Olanrewaju, Monsieur Mustapha, and Mr. Francis Adedeji.
Management appreciates them all for their selfless services to the growth and development of the Polytechnic; with cash gifts, electronic items, and certificates of meritorious service.
The Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE in his farewell address, recognizes the presence of the retirees, their families and well-wishers.
He charges the retirees to always appreciate the Almighty for their lives noting that some of their colleagues whom they started together are no longer alive to be celebrated.
Speaking further, he disclosed that the farewell ceremony was first of its kind in the history of the Polytechnic and he applaud the recently dissolved Governing Council under the Chairmanship of Dr. U. B. Ahmed, the immediate past Ag. Rector, Mr. E. M. Igbinehi and Staff Unions for coming up with the idea of celebrating the retired staff at the Management level which will also encourage those coming behind.
He appreciates the Organizing Committee headed by Dr. S. O. Ogunjinmi, Dean, School of General Studies; for their commitments towards the actualization of this colorful event.
Engr Kadiri disclosed that the next farewell ceremony will be held at the 1000 Capacity Lecture Hall and all staff will be in attendance to witness the encomium showed on the retired senior colleagues which will hopefully, motivate them to be diligent in service of the Polytechnic.
The Guest Speaker, Engr. Niyi Oladele who is a retired Management Staff at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) appreciates the Management of the Polytechnic for approving such programme in honour of retirees, adding that he is highly delighted and honoured to be part of the great occasion.
Engr. Niyi Oladele congratulate the retirees. He also told them to count themselves lucky to be celebrated while they were still alive and healthy.
While admonishing other staff who are still in service, he said: “ironically this program is for those who are still in service. Retirement will come whether you want it or not because there is a time to enter and a time to exit. It is the fundamental principle of life.”
Speaking further, he enjoined the retirees to have a workable plans for their retirement. According to him; “please do not retire to your beds. Don’t let us go home and sleep. This is not the time to be idle. Let us be active and engage in sports to keep us fit. There is need for us to refresh our brains and our bodies. It is when we are active that we will be called to come and do one or two things”
He also advised them to do regular medical check-up and socialize by joining groups that will be beneficial to them.
While responding on behalf of the celebrants, Reverend S. A. Adeyemo appreciates the Management Team led by the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE for making the day a reality and for making resources available for the ceremony. He appreciates God for giving them grace to have started well and finished well.
Rev. Adeyemo also appreciates the immediate past Ag. Rector, Mr. E. M. Igbinehi, the Union Leaders, and the present administration for initiating the idea and bringing it to fruition respectively. He thanked the Organizing Committee also for a job well done.


Conclusively, Secretary of the Endowment Committee, Mr. G. O. Edetan appreciates the Management on behalf of the Committee for the privilege to serve the Polytechnic in this capacity. He equally appreciates the staff, families, friends and well-wishers of the celebrants for attending the ceremony and wishes them journey mercy back to their various destinations.
In attendance were, Deputy Rector (Admin), Dr. Salimonu Rasheed Ishaq; Deputy Rector (Acad.) Dr, Mrs. Mulikat Bola Aliyu; Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Soko; Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Rasaq Femi Quadri; Bursar, Mr. Amidu Azeez; Deans, Directors, HODs/HOUs, Union Leaders and Staff members.
