NOTSUP Inaugurates FEDPOFFA Branch Executives

…says Unionism not Hooliganism

The Non-Teaching Staff Union of Polytechnics (NOTSUP)  has inaugurated its newly appointed Branch Executives at the Federal Polytechnic Offa on Wednesday 5th July 2023.

The newly appointed Branch Executives are: Comr. Oladimeji Razaq, Chairman; Comr. Jimba Akabo, Vice Chairman; Comr. Hassan Abdulmumeen, General Secretary; Comr. Oba Funsho, Asst. Gen. Sec.; Comr. Adesigbi Monsuru, Financial Secretary; Comr. Ajimoti Mary, Treasurer; Comr. Alabi Mubo, Welfare Officer; Comr. Mustapha Akeem, PRO I; and Comr. Raji Ismail Olalekan, PRO II.

The Registrar, Mr. G. O. Soko who was represented by the Deputy Registrar, Institute for Continuing Education, Mr. Segun Oyesola welcomed the National Executives of NOTSUP  and congratulated the newly appointed FEDPOFFA Branch Executives.

He therefore urged the new executives to be law abiding and diplomatic in addressing issues with the Management.

According to him, “I want to urge you that as members of staff of this Polytechnic and irrespective of the fact that you are members of NOTSUP, please try and be law abiding. Whatever your agitations are, as rightly spelt out by your National President, be diplomatic in addressing them. Let us find peaceful means of passing cross our messages to the Management. Our agitations should not always be violent as we can always get things done peacefully through lobbying, dialogue and interaction rather than calling for strike action. I pray that as you have been inaugurated today, the Lord will continue to direct your path and you will not fail.”

Also speaking, the National President, Non-Teaching Staff Union of Polytechnics, Comrade Shaba Nokorji commended the Management led by Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE for approving NOTSUP  as a staff Union in the Polytechnic. He added that it shows the Management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa is not bias and very objective when taking decision on staff demands and aspirations.

Com. Shaba who announced the appointment of Com. Alli Emmanuel Adekunle as National Zonal Secretary of NOTSUP also congratulated the newly appointed branch executives and expressed his gratitude for the tremendous responsibility they have undertaken and the willingness to serve the Union and its members. He affirmed that there is no doubt that the new executives would work tirelessly in close collaboration with each other for quality representation of members and ensure that the needs of members are met and their voices heard.

Speaking further, he advised the Executives to see unionism as a call to serve and join hands with the Management to promote the welfare of Staff rather than seeing it as a call to work against the Management as unionism is not hooliganism. He added that the new executives should recognize women and give them responsibility as they are equally important members of the Union.

While NOTSUP National Ass. Gen. Secretary, Com. Innocent Guma disclosed that after Bida Polytechnic which has close to 200 members in NOTSUP, The Federal Polytechnic Offa is next. He admonished the Executives to always approach Management with wisdom and fact.

The newly appointed Chairman, Com. Rasaq Oladimeji appreciated members and assured the National Executives present that his administration will prioritize the welfare of all NOTSUP members. He wished the executives a safe trip back to their destinations.

In attendance were: Barr. Kunle Babatunde, Deputy Registrar, Legal Matters; Mrs. Esther Folake Oyinloye, Ag. Head, Public Relations, Comr. Victor Idoma Okocha, NOTSUP South was Coordinator; Comr. Idris, NOTSUP National Treasurer, SERVICOM Unit; Security Unit amongst Other Staff Members; Congress Men and Women.
