IAUE Announces 6 New Departments as Fresh Students Take Oath

The Management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has announced the establishment of six new departments in the institution.
The departments are entrepreneurship, employment and human resource management, and social works.
Others are science education, business education, and social science education.
Meanwhile, the department of banking and finance had already received a nod by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, made the announcement at the matriculation ceremony of the institution, on March 31, at the university auditorium.
He noted that the expansion of academic programmes would create more admission opportunities for indigenes and residents in the state.
Onuchuku assured the fresh men and women that his administration would guide them to succeed in their search for quality higher education that would prepare them to fit into the 21st century knowledge-driven economy.
The VC reminded the students that their main mission to the place was to study and graduate with good grades, as he encouraged those that have the passion to participate in sports because of the potential opportunities in the industry.

Onuchuku further advised the new comers to shun cultism, examination malpractice, and other vices, while emphasing that the university rules and regulations must be obeyed.
He enjoined parents to ensure that they pay their children’s fees and other levies and to constantly monitor their academic performance.
The VC thanked the Rivers State government for its support to the university, applauded the parents for their confidence in the institution, and reassured that their trust would not be taken for granted.
7, 077 students were admitted. Out of this number, 6, 736 came through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), while 341 were admitted through ‘A’ level/direct entry.
