FEDPOLEL SUG Successfully Reduces Proposed School Fees Increment for 2024/2025 Session, Secures Additional Benefits for Students

The Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji’s Student Union Government (FEDPOLELSU) has successfully negotiated a reduction in the proposed school fees increment for returning students. This development follows a crucial meeting on January 13, 2024, between the school management, the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), and representatives from FEDPOLELSU.
Initially justified by the management as necessary to offset inflation and operational costs, the proposed increment was met with resistance. After extensive discussions, the intervention by SUG and NAPS resulted in a ₦5,000 reduction for returning students, while freshers will pay the stipulated fee without any deduction.
To further ease the financial burden, the SUG and NAPS encouraged students to access the NELFUND program, which offers financial aid and a monthly stipend of ₦20,000 to support fee payments.
As part of the agreement, management has also pledged to:
- Provide electricity across the school by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
- Make school hostels available to interested students before the end of the current academic session.
The SUG lauded the cooperation of the school management and assured students of continuous representation of their interests.
“Together, we can make FEDPOLEL great,” the statement concluded, signaling the union’s commitment to the welfare of students.
