EMBRACE OPPORTUNITIES AHEAD, SAYS FUTMINNA VC DURING PG MATRIC

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, has urged newly admitted postgraduate students to make the most of the opportunities provided by their admission into the University’s various postgraduate programs.
Speaking at the 9th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2023/2024 Academic Session, held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the School of Information and Communication Technology (SICT) Lecture Theatre, Prof. Kuta emphasized the University’s commitment to academic excellence. He highlighted FUT, Minna’s adherence to timeliness, transparent evaluation procedures, and a conducive academic environment as key factors that have earned respect for its postgraduate programs nationwide.
Prof. Kuta underscored the structured nature of the programs, designed to offer advanced studies and expand knowledge through research, development, and innovation. He noted that these efforts align with international best practices and aim to maintain the University’s high standards and reputation.
The Vice-Chancellor outlined the University’s core values—integrity, excellence, resilience, diversity, inclusiveness, entrepreneurship, and innovation—and assured students of a safe and multicultural environment. He stressed the importance of adhering to academic standards, including minimum coursework CGPA requirements for Postgraduate Diploma and Masters students and timely defense of research proposals for PhD students.
Prof. Kuta encouraged students to familiarize themselves with graduation requirements and work closely with their research supervisors. He also warned against examination malpractice, unregistered associations, cultism, and other anti-social behaviors, reaffirming the University’s zero tolerance for such activities.
The Acting Registrar, Mrs. Azumi Salamatu Ahmed Ndayako, administered the matriculation oath to the new students.
