EKITI POLY Rector, Oladebeye Bags ASUP Award
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye has bagged an Award/Instrument of commendation (THE PAN AFRICAN PRIZE FOR EXCELLENCE) again, this time from the African Students Union Parliament (ASUP) as a result of his positive contributions towards the educational sector in Nigeria.
Presenting the Award/Instrument of Commendation, the ASUP Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kewul Abel described the Rector as a man of courage whose ebullient nature fused with his remarkable administrative acumen is evident in the successes recorded so far in the Institution.
Rt. Hon. Kewul stated that as part of their engagement to the office of the Rector, was to ask after the welfare of the students as they are currently campaigning against drug abuse and other related social vices among students of higher institutions. He also noted that the ASUP, which consists of 54 member countries is currently having 3,714 former drug users on their follow up list around the continent who are being provided with the global acceptable guideline for withdrawal and they intend to do more. He therefore clamoured for support towards the continuation of the campaign. They also urged the Rector to extend his intellectual abilities not only to Nigeria alone, but to other African Countries through exchange programmes, peer review mechanism and regional conferences.
Responding, the Rector, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye commended the African Students Union Parliament (ASUP) for their quest in bringing sanity to various Institutions all over Africa, and was also delighted to know that the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti is the 3rd Institution to receive such award the second time under his administration. Dr. Oladebeye asserted that the Polytechnic has maintained and will continue to maintain a zero tolerance for all antisocial vices such as examination misconduct, drug abuse, cultism, hooliganism and any form of social vices. He therefore assured them of his support in whatever capacity he was called upon to assist.
Giving the vote of thanks, the Director, Protocol, Information and Public Relations, Mr. Adeyemi-Adejolu appreciated the ASUP speaker and his team for the various awards given to the Rector and also for inducting him to the hall of fame. He assured them that the Management would continue to do everything within its power to ensure that the Institution remains violence and drug free.
