Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe bows out as Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana

For Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe, it has been five years of impactful, result-oriented and steadied progress in the saddle as the Rector of Federal polytechnic, Ukana Akwa Ibom State.
A trailblazer and one imbued with impeccable character and deep intellect spiced with remarkable wisdom, Dr. Ukekpe’s time in the polytechnic has brought immense development in many ways, especially in human capacity building and infrastructure renaissance.
Under his watch, the Polytechnic got a number of courses accredited from a paltry number of accredited Programmes he met on ground upon resumption as Rector in 2018. Today, the polytechnic has gotten NBTE accreditation for programmes across three schools; School of Applied Science, School of Engineering Technology and School of Management Studies, even as School of Environmental Studies is about to commence. The credit for all this goes to the ebullient and charismatic rector.
His management skills has been top-notch. His relationship with staff and non teaching staff, including the students and all who have had one dealing with him or the other has been nothing short of excellent and admirable.
Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe’s five years in the Polytechnic has witnessed many unprecedented feats and milestones that have elevated the status of Federal polytechnic, Ukana to heights that has placed it at par with other top-rated Polytechnics in the country.
What is more, his strides so numerous and outstandingly unique were compiled in a book entitled: “Transformational Strides: A Memoir of Dr. Uduak Ukekpe’s Exceptional Feats As Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Akwa Ibom State.”
The book written by the Public Relations Unit of the institution, was publicly presented on Monday November 20, 2023 at the end of tenure dinner held in his honour in Uyo.
The book chronicles his achievements, strides, personae and contributions to the Polytechnic during his five eventful years as Rector of Federal polytechnic, Ukana, Akwa Ibom State.
As he rounds off his tenure today, he will be bowing out with his head held very high, because it can be said without any oita of doubt that, he came, saw and conquered. Despite the challenges he faced, having to contend with forces of retrogression, this soft-spoken Ika born academic don was able to navigate through all the hurdles, hence leaves on a bang and satisfied that he has left indelible imprints in the sands of the polytechnic and the academic circuit in general.
In reaching the finishing line of his tour of duty in the polytechnic, Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe can move onto other responsibilities with the assuredness that in his previous engagement, his output was excellent. And so in his case, it can be said that, one good turn deserves another. He is a man of immense capacity and know-how hence we are certain that he will bring his wealth of knowledge and wisdom to any tasks fate bestows on him in future.
To him, the polytechnic owes a debt of gratitude for all that he did while in the saddle as Rector.
Congratulations, Sir on your fruitful and successful tenure as Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana.
