ASUP Direct Members to Suspend CEC Examination till further Notice in TPI

The Academic staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), The Polytechnic Ibadan (TPI) chapter has directed its Members to suspend the preparation for the semester examination for students of the Continuation Education Centre (CEC) scheduled to commence on Monday 5th June 2023.
The Union said this action became necessary following the inconsistency in the payment of their honorarium which has affected their members.
According to a statement signed by the chairman, Dr Kola Lawal, confirmed to POLYTV that the preparation for the part-time students examination has been placed on hold until further information and clarification from the union.
“It has come to our attention that there have been significant issues regarding the transparency of CEC claim payments, affecting numerous members within our union. These payment discrepancies have impacted several of our members, with some individuals experiencing non-payment for 2 or 3 semesters.”
“Due to ongoing issues regarding the transparency of CEC claim payments, it has become necessary to temporarily halt the preparation for examinations of our part-time students scheduled to start on Monday 5 June 2023 until further information and clarification from the union. We understand the importance of the examination and the impact it has on the academic progress of our students.”
“However, it is crucial that we address this issue collectively to ensure fairness and transparency in our union’s processes. By postponing the examination preparation for the time being, we can create a unified front and express our concerns to the relevant authorities, demanding immediate resolution and payment of CEC claims.”
The ASUP chairman further assured students that the union is working towards resolving this matter as soon as possible.
“Rest assured that our union is actively working towards resolving this matter as quickly as possible. We are in constant communication with the appropriate authority to address these payment discrepancies and ensure that our members receive their rightful dues. We understand the frustration and inconvenience caused by this situation and appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time…
“As soon as we receive updates and resolution from the management of the CEC, we will communicate the information to all members promptly. In the meantime, I encourage you to remain engaged and support each other within our community. Your dedication and commitment to our union are greatly appreciated.”
