AKWAPOLY ORGANIZES INAUGURAL AUDITION FOR THEATRE GROUP

It was an exciting and entertaining moment recently in Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua as students, staff and the Polytechnic Community witnessed the maiden auditioning of the AKWAPOLY THEATRE GROUP organized by the Department of General Studies.

The Theatre Group which took place at the New Auditorium is aimed at grooming students who can thrillingly and confidently display their creativity and talents in drama, dance, poetry, music and cinema.

Speaking at the world-class, the Dean School of Communication Arts, Dr Daniel Evans Eshiet commended the initiative of the Head of Department, General Studies, Dr. Ime Etuk, for actualizing such an idea to help students in discovering their God-given talents in the work of arts.

He described the Theatre Group as an avenue that will expose students to in-depth and practical artworks beyond the classroom activities. He further encouraged the students to take good advantage of the group in order to contribute positive insight and display creativity.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Chapter, Comrade Eteyen Uko commended the efforts of the Head of Department and Staff for putting up the event noting that, it is a stepping stone to discover more genius in the Institution.

Ably represented by the ASUP Publicity Secretary, Mr Utitofonidara John, Uko appreciated the Rector of the School, Dr Moses Umobong for his support while encouraging the students to take an active part in the  program ensuring they set up a formidable team that will promote and project the image of the Institution within and outside the State.

“We know that there are a lot of talented students on Campus who are yearning for an opportunity to show off their potential and creativity. Today, I must commend everyone who has put this together because it is a wonderful opportunity for interested students to showcase themselves beyond the classroom activities”, he enthused.

Other dignitaries who added cream to the event include the Head, Department of Performing Arts, Akwa Ibom State University, Dr. Lucy Michael, Immediate Past HOD, Performing Arts, AKSU,                Dr. Nkiruka Ekaenyi, HOD, Department of English, AKSU, Dr. David Udoinwang, Lecturer, Department of Mass Communication, Mr. Aniekan James, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, an Entrepreneur, Ms. Aniedi Etim amongst others.
