Federal Polytechnic Bauchi SUG Tackles Overcharging by Business Operators

In a decisive move to protect students and staff, the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has announced measures to combat overcharging by business centers, POS operators, and provision shops within the institution.
The SUG has established a committee to investigate complaints about exorbitant fees for services such as printing, photocopying, and transactions, as well as inflated prices for goods. These practices, according to the SUG, have been negatively affecting the well-being of students, particularly freshers, and staff.
In an official statement dated January 22, 2025, the SUG called on all business operators within the campus to cease such exploitative practices immediately. The union warned that violators would face serious penalties.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the SUG has encouraged students and staff to report cases of extortion to their office. For complaints and inquiries, the union can be reached at 0913 906 3349.
The notice was signed by Comr. Ani Odinaka, Director of Food & Sales, and Comr. Haruna Umar, the SUG President.
This proactive initiative demonstrates the SUG’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the polytechnic community and fostering a fair business environment on campus.
