There are some aspects of our lives that need to be celebrated because they are inevitable but I observed that people spend too much and  go the extra mile of borrowing money  to celebrate special moments which is very wrong and what are these celebrations that don’t  need expensive funding ? They are;

1. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Birthday is one of the most inevitable and important aspects of our life and this celebration sometimes is unavoidable because of its nature. Except if you have the money, lavish birthdays are unnecessary. I learnt that some students use their school fees on birthdays, some had to tell a sort of lie just to fund a birthday. As much as birthdays are important, it is also necessary to understand that “Lavish birthday” is unnecessary except if you truly have the money.

However if you are the type of person  that is struggling to make ends meet, you can still celebrate with the little you have and  not until you paint the sky in red. People spend too much on their birthday just to get attention or to prove that they belong. Perhaps Birthday is not actually +1 rather it is -1 so during these celebrations, don’t compare yourself to obi Cubana nor dangote. ‘Don’t celebrate beyond your pocket’ Celebrate responsibility.

2. WEDDING CELEBRATIONS

Did you know That “Expensive wedding doesn’t mean the marriage will last forever?  I can count about 10 popular and expensive weddings that later  crashed. It only takes Grace for the journey to be worthwhile. It doesn’t make any sense to spend millions on a wedding and later be struggling to pay debts afterwards.

Forget about social media, whether you throw a big party or Low party, the same wedding certificate you get is what others will get, so before you borrow money to fund your wedding remember that there are a lot of responsibilities ahead of you. ‘Wedding no dey expensive nah you wan wed like ritualists’ the most important aspect of wedding is for you to pay her bride price and all other legal requirements are based on choice.   Imagine booking 5 Million naira on a wedding and later struggling to pay bills for antenatal  care. Like a seriously, expensive wedding is not necessary “EXCEPT IF YOU TRULY HAVE THE MONEY.”

3. BURIAL CEREMONY CELEBRATIONS

It is a beautiful thing to celebrate the life of our loved ones that has passed on and died at old age but throwing an expensive burial beyond the level of your pocket is a stupid thing. A man who buried his father with a 1million naira casket and the one who uses ordinary mat is still the same thing because at the end, insects and termites will eat their remains  besides the corpse won’t wake up if you bury it with a billion dollar casket. 

This is very common in our society today, you will see how hunger  and lack of care killed Some people and their family will   start booking expensive burials and the funnies part is that, some will even borrow money from LAPO to fund burial ceremony and after everything they Will be the one to bear the consequences of paying debts. There is nothing much special about burial, forget about obi cubana, you are not Cubana perhaps Cubana has the money but do you have the money? Throwing expensive burial ceremony is not necessary “EXCEPT IF YOU TRULY HAVE IT.”

The most important aspect is for you to take care of your aged parents and loved ones while they are still alive. The food you give your father now that he is still alive is what will be in your memory forever, not how many cows you killed after his Demise. Never borrow money to fund burials. 

In conclusion, There is nothing bad in throwing a big party at your birthday, wedding or burial but it is a stupid thing to throw a party beyond the level of your pocket because you want to satisfy humans. Remember if you use your school fee to fund a birthday nobody will  contribute money for you freely and if you borrow to fund your wedding remember people won’t help you pay your bills therefore celebrate responsibly.
