Yabatech Matriculates 15,453 Students As Omokungbe Charges Freshers To Be Diligent

The Rector, Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe has implored the newly admitted students to be diligent, hardworking and focus on academics during the 2019/2020 academic session matriculation.
Out of the 31,814 candidates that applied to Yabatech 15,453 were given admission; 4,046 candidates were offered admission into Ordinary National Diploma (OND) full-time programme, 2,289 candidates were admitted into Higher National Diploma (HND), while 8,585 candidates were admitted for both OND & HND part-time programmes. The B.Sc programme being run in conjunction with University of Nsukka (UNN) admitted 533 for various programmes.
Omokungbe disclosed that the event marked the formal admission of the candidates as bonafide students of the College. He advised the matriculants to imbibe the culture of discipline in academics to excel in their careers; shun all forms of distraction, take their studies seriously, let reading and learning be their soul pre-occupation in order for them to graduate in flying colours.
He described matriculation ceremony as academic exercise. The matriculation oath signifies that students must accept to abide by all the rules and regulations governing the conduct of students in Yabatech, such as shunning all forms of anti-social activities such as Cultism, Drug Abuse, Examinations Malpractices, Sexual Misbehaviour and other unruly behavior. The students must therefore at all times ensure that they abide by the oath, while violators shall be sanctioned accordingly.
Rector disclosed also that that the College has put in place facilities that would make teaching and learning process easy for students and lecturers, he made mention of a well-equipped digital center that would help students with online registration, also, he hinted that the school management has furnished the available hostels and equipped all hostel rooms with furniture to aid comfort of the students.
“In Yabatech, 75% lecture attendance is required before student can be qualified to write examination at the end of the semester. Any student that fails to achieve the mandatory requirement will not be admitted for examinations. You are therefore advised to attend lectures regularly to qualify to write examinations.
