USA Universities that Accept HNDs for Master’s Degree Programs

Students in the Higher National Diploma (HND) program often experience discrimination when applying for a Master’s or PhD in Nigeria, as they may feel inferior to those with a B.Sc. degree.

The good news is that HND holders have an evergreen hope, and the United States is one of the countries that accept HND holders for academic progression.

Before we proceed further, here are some important things to know and do:

1. Good Grades: Having good grades, such as a distinction or upper credit, is very important. This will enhance your chances of being admitted compared to other applicants with a degree.

2. WES Evaluation: Some schools abroad will require you to evaluate your ND and HND certificates and academic transcripts with WES or other evaluating bodies. To do this, you need to visit the school where you graduated and request a WES evaluation. You may be charged between 10-20k for academic transcripts depending on your school.

3. Prepare, gather the other required documents, and apply as early as possible.
