Soun Visits Ayede Polytechnic, Urges High Standards, Push for University Status

The Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, has challenged the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, to lay a strong foundation that would elevate the institution to a university soon.
During his visit to the institution’s temporary site at Iresapa, Surulere Local Government, the Soun emphasized the importance of quality leadership and high standards in determining the future success of any institution. He drew examples from his alma mater, the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), praising its early leadership and enduring excellence.
Oba Olaoye, accompanied by the Alajaawa of Ajaawa, Oba Thompson Oyetunji Adeyeye, stressed that Ayede Polytechnic must set a high benchmark in infrastructure, academics, and culture. He urged Rector Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed to establish lasting standards that would continuously inspire future generations.
He also encouraged the institution to prioritize employment opportunities for Ogbomoso indigenes, expressing concern that more locals should be engaged.
The Soun assured the Polytechnic of his support toward its development and transition into a university.
In response, Rector Abdul-Hameed thanked the monarch, reaffirming the commitment to building a strong institution and acknowledging the contributions of Ogbomoso’s people.
After the Polytechnic visit, the Soun and his entourage visited the palace of Aresa of Iresapa, His Royal Majesty Oba Moses Olayiwola Ajiboye, promising a more formal visit later. The delegation then toured the Polytechnic’s permanent site at Ayede in Ogo-Oluwa Local Government.
