SHOCKING: Nnamdi Azikiwe University Expels Student Over Assault on Lecturer

In a dramatic turn of events, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has expelled a student over a serious case of misconduct. Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, a student of History and International Studies, was found guilty of assaulting a lecturer from the Department of Theater and Film Studies, leading to her immediate expulsion from the institution.
The disciplinary committee’s report, reviewed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, confirmed that the student’s actions were a gross violation of the university’s Students Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR). Following the committee’s recommendation, the university senate approved her expulsion with immediate effect.
In an official statement signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Victor I. Modebelu, the university directed the expelled student to vacate the premises immediately and return any university property in her possession. Copies of the expulsion notice were also sent to key university officials, including the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the Head of the History and International Studies Department, and the Chief Safety Officer.
This incident has sparked discussions among students and faculty members, with many expressing shock at the development. While some argue that the punishment is justified to maintain discipline, others believe the university should have explored alternative disciplinary measures.
