Professorship not mere appointment to next rank, says FULafia V-C
The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has urged the newly appointed professors and associate professors to see their elevation as a call to serve the system.

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has urged the newly appointed professors and associate professors to see their elevation as a call to serve the system.
“Don’t see your elevation as a mere appointment to the next rank,” he advised.
It would be recalled that the Federal University of Lafia, recently, announced the promotion of 16 associate professors to the rank of professors and 14 senior lecturers to the rank of associate professors.
Receiving the academics at the Old Senate Chamber, Permanent Site Campus of the University, the vice-chancellor called on them to make contributions to bodies of knowledge and assist the University and society to develop.
Abdul Rahman encouraged the academics to develop positive characters and engage themselves in training activities with a view to developing others.
“Go for trainings, learn to prioritise activities and make people to be more productive by working with them on of their developmental goals,” Abdul Rahman said.
He said that team work, networking, critical thinking, time management, emotional intelligence, leadership communication and relationship were qualities needed for effective leadership and professorship.
Stating that the appointees were now public figures, he advised them to render service to the system, keep aside personal interest and work for development of the University.
