A polymer engineer primarily works in plastics development. In this career, you develop and test plastics or related materials. Your responsibilities include the fabrication of new polymers, working with the prototype, and designing new equipment to process these materials.
You also provide support for all plastic injection molding techniques and monitor customer issues, working to resolve them quickly. You analyze and evaluate the success of each new plastic or polymer.
You also research and analyze ongoing developments in the plastics field and select polymers for new applications and testing. Other duties include maintaining product improvement policies and promoting efficient lab operations.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
(a) TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY OPTION JAMB REQUIREMENTS Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English Language. O’ LEVEL REQUIREMENTS Five O’ Level Credit Passes in SSCE or its equivalent Examination which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two out of the following in not more than two sittings:
1. Biology/Agric. Science
2. Chemistry
3. Further Mathematics
4. Technical Drawing / Fine Art
5. Statistics
6. Geography
7. Economics
CAREER PROSPECTS
Spinning Mills, Weaving and Knit wear, Mobile, Aeronautics, Medical, Dye Houses, Defence (for bullet proofing vests, Protective gear etc), Construction (geo-textiles), Forensics, Agriculture, Packaging Materials/Accessories, Laundry Units, Nigerian Customs and Services, Immigration, Federal Ministry of Trades and Industry, Education e.t.c.
(b) POLYMER TECHNOLOGY OPTION JAMB REQUIREMENTS Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English Language O’ LEVEL REQUIREMENTS Same as Textile Technology CAREER PROSPECTS Fast Moving Commodity Goods (FMCG), Oil and Gas, Construction, Aerospace, Aeronautics, Marine, Automobile, Power, Sports, Safety, Recycling, Plastic Industries, Education/Research. e.t.c.
