Oyo State Responds as Ibadan Polytechnic Students Collapse After Inhaling Gas in Lecture Hall

Several students at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, were rushed to the hospital after inhaling a gaseous substance inside a lecture hall. The incident occurred following a disagreement between two students, which led to one of them releasing the substance. Many students lost consciousness, causing panic within the school premises.
The Oyo State government swiftly intervened, sending an emergency medical team to provide assistance. The affected students were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, where they were stabilized. The Commissioner for Health personally visited the hospitals to assess the situation and assured that the students were receiving proper medical care.
Authorities at the institution have been urged to investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action against those responsible. The government also emphasized the need for increased awareness among students regarding safety and the consequences of engaging in harmful behavior.
The Polytechnic’s management expressed appreciation for the prompt response and assured that efforts were being made to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
