Offa Poly Management reduces school Fee After SUG and NAPS Intervention

The management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state has slashed the tuition fees for the 2023/2024 academic session by 12%.
This development was confirmed to POLYTV by SUG after the meeting with the school management, NANS and NAPS.
The SUG president explained the reasons for the sudden increment as he commend the school management for reducing hostel fees from #80,000 to #50,000.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the SUG president which in part reads:
“Following the recent update gotten by the Federal Polytechnic Offa student on the proposed increase in tuition fee that leads to issues in the Polytechnic community, the Student union government in collaboration with the NAPS and NANS national headquarters hereby bring to the notice of the student populace that there’s a resolution.”
“The quick Intervention from the NAPS and NANS body make the management to consider the appeal of the SUG and thereby leading to the reduction in the tuition fee. The Rector in his words gave reasons for the increment in the tuition fee which are remittance of some percentage to the TSA due to new policy on IGR, Ensuring the institution run a stable and standard Electricity supply, paying off the cleaners, casual workers and renovating some hostels, developmental project to enable the school to meet it standards.”
“However, the SUG with the NAPS and NANS made the management realize that the fee to be paid is too outrageous and beseech the management to consider a reduction in the price that will be comfortable for the student to pay.”
“After series of dialogue that lasted for hours, the reduction in price was achieved and 12% reduction was removed by the school management. Further more on other issues affecting the students it is safe to say that achievement was made on the school hotels fee, now both the new intakes and returning students are to be paying the sum of #50,000(Fifty thousand Naira) instead of the proposed #80,000( Eighty thousand Naim), the damages fee which was proposed to #5,000(Five thousand naira) was reduced to #2,000(Two thousand Naira).”
“On this note, the SUG is commending the leadership of NANS and NAPS for their quick Intervention and their diplomatic ways of resolving the issues. It is worthy to commend the management of the institution for the listening ears given to the NANS and NAPS bodies in other to ensure a way forward and also foster the cordial relationship with the school management and the SUG.”
