NBTE ACCREDITS 6 NEW, 2 EXISTING PROGRAMMES AT COLLEGE OF HEALTH IJERO
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted accreditation to the
College of Health Sciences and Technology Ijero-Ekiti for the running of eight programmes, comprising 2 existing ones, and 6 new programmes.
The approval was the outcome of a recent Quality Assurance Visitation exercise by the NBTE to the Institution.
The six new programmes are:
ND Dental Surgery Technology,
ND Public Health Technology,
ND Dispensing Opticianry,
ND Paramedics Technology,
ND Dental Therapy and
HND Health Information Management, while the 2 existing programmes for which accreditation was granted are:
ND Community Health and
ND Environmental Health Technology
The NBTE’s approval of the eight programmes is contained in a correspondence to the College Provost by the Board’s Director, Monotechnic Programme Department – Sama’ila Tanko
Speaking at the debriefing exercise held after accreditation inspection, the NBTE team leader, Prince (Dr.) Murtala Aliyu Sakwa noted that the purpose of accreditation is not to witch hunt but to guide institutions of higher learning towards ensuring efficient service delivery, particularly to students and staff.
While applauding the College’s Electronic Library System, the team leader expressed optimism that the institution has qualified personnel and opportunities to expand, with the support of the State Government and well-spirited individuals.
Responding, the Provost, Dr. (Mrs) Olajumoke Adebayo appreciated the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for its unrelenting efforts at sustaining the quality of programmes run by the College, assuring that the Institution will strive and continue to do its best at setting the pace in quality education.
While describing the College of Health Sciences and Technology Ijero-Ekiti as a reputable institution, Dr. Adebayo noted that, a larger percentage of courses offered in the College border on human life, hence the consistent pragmatic approach of her Management to issues bordering on personnel development, student welfare, infrastructural development, staff welfare, work schedule, course outline amongst others.
The Provost had earlier expressed gratitude to the Visitor to the College and Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji for providing the much needed financial support, without which she hinted the accreditation exercise would not have been a success.
She called on well-meaning individuals in Ekiti State to support efforts being made by Governor Oyebanji, especially in the education sector, to better the lot of the people.
