MLSCN Describes COHEST IJERO E-library as Topnotch, Urges other Health Institutions to Adopt 21st Century Teaching Practices
The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria has described the Electronic Library System of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero-Ekiti as top notch, and a model for other tertiary institutions in the Country.
Speaking during an accreditation briefing exercise held at the College conference hall, leader of the Council’s accreditation team, Mrs. Edeh, who led other council members including; Mrs. Ijeoma Omaiya, Mrs. Adetoro Basirat and Dr. (Mrs.) Oladugba, commended Management for furnishing the College’s physical library with up to date and relevant books to aid efficient teaching and studying of the Medical Laboratory Technician course.
While hinting that the accreditation visit was meant to re-assess the manpower and functionality of equipment and facilities in the College’ Medical Laboratory Tech. department, Edeh commended the College’ leadership for equipping the laboratory with standard wares and adopting 21st century techniques in impacting knowledge to Students, particularly those in the Medical laboratory technician cadre.
Welcoming the accreditation team, Provost of the College, Dr. (Mrs.) Olajumoke Adebayo noted the institution Management’s commitment to uplifting academic standard, and retaining her seat as a pacesetter for other middle-level health-based institutions in the Country.
Dr. Adebayo further appreciated the Medical laboratory Science Council of Nigeria for being consistent over the years, in maintaining professionalism, both in teaching and practice.
She posited that, Medical Laboratory Technician graduates of the College, spread across different organizations within and outside Nigeria, had over the years been doing the institution proud.
He assured that the College of Health Sciences and Technology Ijero-Ekiti will not relent in training and shunning out graduates that are capable of competing favourably with their counters across the globe.
The exercise which featured: briefing, debriefing, assessment of College facilities and touring of practical stations, was monitored by the Deputy Provost; Mr. Kayode Abolarin, the Acting Registrar; Dr. Olumide Dada, Mr. Adesanmi Farukuoye who represented the Librarian, and Mr. Henry Olanipekun of the Bursary Department.
Others include: the Dean, School of Medical Laboratory Technician and Imaging Sciences; Mr. Adebayo Ajibola, the Acting Head, Medical Laboratory Technician Department; Mr. Adebowale Aladejare, the Dean, School of Environmental Studies; Mr. Patrick Adebayo, the Director, Academic Planning; Mr. A. Adeniji, Mr. Musa Ayodele and Mr. Ojo Matthew, amongst other Academic and Non teaching staff of the College.
