Joy as 424 Federal Polytechnic Idah Students Receive ₦17.8 Million in Student Loans — See When They Got Paid

In a huge win for Nigerian tertiary education, the Federal Polytechnic Idah has officially acknowledged the full disbursement of the 2023/2024 student loan to its applicants. A total of 424 student beneficiaries received the combined sum of ₦17,826,500, according to a letter from the institution’s Registrar’s Office dated August 6, 2025.
The confirmation, signed by Desk Officer Hassan Idris Husseini, revealed that the funds were disbursed on March 11, 2025, and each of the 424 students received their share of the long-awaited Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFund) support.
The Federal Polytechnic Idah commended the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the MD/CEO of NELFund for their dedication and vision, describing the initiative as a life-changing intervention that has brought smiles to the faces of struggling students.
“This laudable feat has put smiles on the faces of Nigerian students, most specifically those at the Federal Polytechnic Idah,” the letter reads.
The institution also praised the government’s commitment to educational funding and expressed hope that similar efforts will continue in the coming years. The Polytechnic’s management, led by Rector Dr. Y. B. Usman and Registrar Dr. O. A. Oniyide, assured stakeholders of their gratitude and pledged continued partnership to improve students’ welfare.
The Polytechnic encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity while urging the government not to relent in its support for higher education across the country.
With this successful disbursement, the Federal Government’s student loan scheme is gradually gaining credibility among Nigerian students, paving the way for more inclusive access to education.
