Indecent Dressing: OGITECH SUG Clears Air as Management Denies Student Entry to Campus

The security at the Ogun state Institute of Technology (OGITECH), on Monday barred some students from entering the campus on the condition of indecent dressing.
According to reports, the students were denied entry to the polytechnic because of their footwears.
While addressing the students, the students union said they have met with the school management and also head of departments where it was concluded that students with leather palm slippers will be allowed to polytechnic campus henceforth
According to a statement released by the student union: “The students’ union government swung into action on Monday having witnessed the situation at the gate where students with leather palm slippers weren’t allowed in as against the usual acceptable code of dressing in the school, having made several consultation the union sought the attention of the management in a meeting…
“The meeting which had in attendance representatives of the Departmental Heads on campus was held in a bid to reach a common ground regarding the footwear type to be allowed in school.”
“The union brought to note the Importance of good dressing but however buttressed that leather palm slippers is a footwear that also dictate good and responsible dressing and as such should be allowed into the school premises…
“The polytechnic is a community of people from various learnings: in value, religious and ideological viewpoints etc. And before making any policy, these dichotomies must be addressed with consideration to the secularity of the Institution, so that we do not end up imposing our own sectarian moral standards on people of varying standards. “
“After much deliberation and discussion it was agreed that Students with Leather palm slippers would be allowed into the school, however the use of slides is prohibited, as Slides doesn’t depict good dressing.”
