IMT ENUGU STUDENTS PROTEST SCHOOL FEE INCREMENT
The Students of Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu on Friday Protest against compulsory payment of hostel fee and increment of registration fee by the school management.
The students trooped out in their numbers with placards of different inscriptions such as “No to school fees increments” “Reduce our school fees.” A video obtained by POLYTV shows the students chanting “We no go gree ooo we no go gree”
Following the peaceful demonstration by the Polytechnic students, the students union government led by the president, Comrade Steve Agbo met with the school management as they deliberate on resolution.
The hostel fee which was initially made compulsory for all students has now been reversed.
Comrade Steve, the SUG president confirmed to POLY TV in a statement.

“Through the Governor’s Intervention and leadership of NANS on the tuition fees increment. It was slashed to #70k fews weeks ago by the Governing council. While we were still in dialogue with the management for the downward review of the increment.
“Addressing ,the Students in the morning before entering the hall for our Examination. We painstakingly condemned the compulsory hostel increment by the management while promising to be at the forefront to lead the protest, if our emergency schedule meeting the management by 12pm bears no positive results.

“We deeply understand the plight of our students and your grievance to have lead the protest while in the hall writing our exam. However, we appeal that you maintain peace and dialogue while we chart the way forward”
After enumeration and meeting will the Governor of Enugu state, the Deputy Governor, and the Rector of the institute at Enugu state Government house. The following resolution was made:
1. That the hostel fee is no longer compulsory but now optional to student who wish to say in the hostel.
2. That Students who are done with their tuition fees payment can proceed to the ICT their registration number.
3. That the management of the institution, the SUG Executive been given a period of 60 days to extensively present their indices for further tuition fee review as directed by his Excellency.
