I63 MOUAU students to graduate with First Class – VC

One hundred and sixty-three students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, (MOUAU), Abia will graduate with First Class honors during the university’s 12th convocation ceremony on Saturday.
The Vice-Chancellor of MOUAU, Professor Maduebibisi Iwe, made this known on Thursday during a press briefing to herald the convocation.
He said no fewer than 4,743 students would be conferred with first degrees for the 2019/2020 to 2023/2024 graduating sets.
He noted that certificates and prizes would be awarded to students during the convocation.
Giving a breakdown of the class of degrees, he said 163 finished in the First Class Division, 1710 with Second Class Upper, 2114 Second Class Lower, 734 Third Class, nine in the Pass Division and 42 unclassified.
Iwe said that 164 persons would be awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), 252 with Master’s Degree, 86 and 49 with Postgraduate Diploma.
The vice chancellor listed some of the problems confronting the institution to include non-release of take-off grant by the Federal Government, inadequate facilities, low funding, bad roads, and high energy costs, among others.
