How to Apply for NELFUND 2024/2025 Student Loan

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has closed applications for the 2023/2024 student loan cycle and opened applications for the 2024/2025 academic session. According to NELFUND, outstanding applications for the 2023/2024 session are being processed to ensure eligible students receive the financial support they need.
NELFUND, an initiative of the Federal Government, covers tuition fees and monthly upkeep allowances for successful applicants in public higher institutions across Nigeria. Beneficiaries are expected to repay the interest-free loan after completing their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply for the 2024/2025 session:
- Visit the official NELFUND website.
Go to www.nelf.gov.ng. - Initiate the application process.
Click on the “Apply Now” button displayed on the homepage. - Begin registration.
Select “Get Started” to begin your application. - Confirm eligibility.
Answer the preliminary questions to check if you are eligible. Confirm your nationality by selecting “Yes, I am a Nigerian.” - Verify educational information.
Choose your institution from the dropdown menu and enter your matriculation number to confirm your details are submitted by your school. - Authenticate with JAMB.
Click “Verify with JAMB” and enter your JAMB details. If your National Identification Number (NIN) is not registered with JAMB, provide your NIN for verification. - Create your account.
Enter your email address and set a secure password. Confirm your password and click “Create Account.” - Verify your email.
Check your inbox for a verification link from NELFUND and click the link to activate your account. - Log in to your account.
Return to the NELFUND portal, click “LOGIN,” and enter your registered email and password. - Update contact details.
Provide your current phone number, full residential address, state, and local government area. Click “Proceed to Educational Details.” - Update educational details.
Select your institution from the list and enter your matriculation number. Click “Proceed to Account Details.” - Provide bank details.
Enter your Bank Verification Number (BVN), select your bank, and input your account number. Click “Save Changes” to complete your profile. - Apply for the student loan.
After logging in, click the “Request for Student Loan” button at the top right corner. - Specify loan requirements.
If you need funds for personal upkeep, select the relevant checkbox. If you only need funds for institutional charges, proceed without selecting the upkeep option. Click “Continue.” - Upload supporting documents.
Upload a scanned copy of your admission letter (mandatory). Optionally, upload your student ID card and your institution’s invoice. Acknowledge the policy and declaration by checking the box, then click “Continue.” - Review and submit the application.
Carefully review your application. Agree to the Terms & Conditions and the Global Standing Instruction (GSI) Mandate by checking the respective boxes. Click “Submit Application” to finalize the process. - Monitor application status.
After submission, go to the “Loans” section to track your application status. You will be notified of the outcome. If your application is not approved, you can reach out to NELFUND via the contact email on their website.
