FG Announces 2025/2026 Fully Funded Overseas Postgraduate Scholarships for Nigerian Youths

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has officially opened applications for its 2025/2026 Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme (OSS), offering Nigerian graduates a chance to pursue fully funded studies abroad.
The PTDF made this announcement via a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, emphasizing that the restructured OSS program aims to “develop indigenous talent for the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry” with an increased focus on enhancing local expertise.
Where You Can Study
Under the updated scheme, scholarships are available for postgraduate studies in several countries:
- Fully funded MSc scholarships: United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia.
- Fully funded PhD scholarships: Germany, France, and Malaysia.
However, for the United Kingdom, PhD scholarships will now be offered only through a Split-Site arrangement at the PTDF College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK), in collaboration with Robert Gordon University, the University of Strathclyde, and the University of Portsmouth.
What the Scholarship Covers
The PTDF scholarship provides comprehensive support, including:
- Round-trip flight tickets
- Health insurance
- Full tuition and bench fees (where applicable)
- Living expenses for the entire duration of study
The opportunity is open to Nigerian graduates with strong academic records who are pursuing MSc or PhD degrees in fields related to the oil and gas sector.
How to Apply
Interested candidates must submit their applications through the PTDF Scholarship Management Portal.
Deadline for application: June 4, 2025.

About the PTDF
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund is a government agency under Nigeria’s Ministry of Petroleum Resources. It is tasked with building local capacity and human resources for the oil and gas sector through scholarships, research support, and capacity-building programs.
Beyond awarding scholarships, the PTDF also invests in research projects, academic infrastructure, and the establishment of institutions like the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna.
