Encourage Your Science-Inclined Children – OGITECH Rector to Parents
Parents have been enjoined to guide their children right from the cradle to understand the kind of inventions that can come out of even the toys they play with.
The Rector of Ogun State Institute of Technology Igbesa, Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunke Akinkurolere FNSE also advise parents to encourage children who are Science-inclined to give their passion all it takes to excel.
She made this call on Ogun State Television (OGTV) as a guest on New Dawn, as the programme takes a keen look at how Technical Education can be used to address Nigeria’s economic challenges.
Speaking to the focus of the discussion titled, “Technical Education: Route to Economic Survival”, she emphasized the need to train and retrain Science Teachers, as tutors can only give to the extent they know.
Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Akinkurolere expressed optimism that Nigerian students can compete favourably with the rest of the world in technology and innovation, if adequately exposed to the required knowledge.
The programme was televised live on Wednesday 28th October, 2020 in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
