Yaba College of Technology, popularly known as YABATECH, was founded in 1947 and is Nigeria’s first higher educational institution. It is located in Yaba, Lagos. The polytechnic has been ranked more than twice as one of the top 10 best polytechnics in Nigeria. 

YABATECH runs full-time, weekday part-time, weekend part-time, and ODFEL programs.

1. FULL-TIME PROGRAMME: This program is for students admitted through Jamb.

2. WEEKDAYS PART-TIME: This program is the same as a daily part-time program, as lectures are held during the weekdays (Monday to Friday) in the evening.

3. WEEKEND PART-TIME PROGRAM: for the weekend part-time program, lectures are held during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

4. ODFEL PROGRAMME: This is an online flexible distance learning program. Lectures and other academic activities are carried out online, while examinations are in person. 

Yabatech runs the weekend part-time and weekday part-time programs at the Yaba and Epe campuses. That is, candidates applying for part-time admission can choose their preferred campus, whether the Yaba campus or the Epe campus.

DOES YABATECH ACCEPT PASS RESULT (CGPA BELOW 2.50) for HND?

No! Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) does not accept pass Grades for HND admission. Whether you are coming through the full-time or part-time program, the Polytechnic will not offer you admission if your CGPA is below 2.50. The minimum requirement for admission to Yabatech is lower credit (a CGPA of 2.50 above).

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) TO YABATECH:

1. SSCE/JJAMB entry requirements for the corresponding national diploma programs as published in the current JAMB brochure.

2.  Relevant National Diploma at not below LOWER CREDIT Grade.

3. At least one year of relevant post-national diploma-relevant industrial experience.

In conclusion, Yabatech does not accept pass candidates (CGPA below 2.50) for admission. It’s advisable not to waste your time purchasing the admission form, as a minimum of lower credit is required to be admitted into the HND programs. However, there are still many other polytechnics in Nigeria that accept pass grades for HND.
