Courses Offered in National Institute for Sports Surulere Lagos (NIS) and Their School Fees
The National Institute for Sports (NIS) was conceptualized in 1972. It was formally established in 1974 by the Administration of then Head of State and Commander in-Chief of Armed Forces of Nigeria, Gen. Yakubu Gowon based on the need by the government to improve Nigeria’s performance in international sporting competition. The Law granting its autonomy, Decree 31 was promulgated on the 8th of July 1992. The National Institute for Sports is a research and training Institute. It is a Parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports.
At NIS, we train you to become a Professional Sports Coach/Manager.
Below are the lists of the courses offered in the school.
- NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN SPORTS COACHING & TRAINING – 2 YEARS
- NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT – 2 YEARS
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS.
Applicants for ND Sports Coaching and Training must possess:
- Five credit passes in Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), WASSC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB or equivalent at not more than two sittings. The Subjects must include: English Language, Mathematics, One Science subject (Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science/Geography, Physics), and any other two from Physical Education, Health Science/Health Education, Food and Nutrition and Civic Education.
