Eligibility Requirements
The Beit Trust supports talented graduates who meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Malawi.
- Residency: Candidates must currently reside in one of these countries and intend to return home after completing their studies.
- Course Status: Applications are only accepted from those who have not yet started their postgraduate program.

Selection Criteria
Applications are assessed based on academic merit, professional experience, and leadership potential. The following factors are carefully considered:
Academic Excellence
Preference is given to applicants who achieved Distinction or Merit (Upper Second Class) in their undergraduate degree. Candidates with a Lower Second Class may still apply but will face intense competition.
Relevant Work Experience
At least three years of professional experience in a related field is highly valued. Strong employer references and a track record of professional achievements can significantly enhance an application.
Community and Leadership Engagement
Evidence of voluntary work, leadership roles, and contributions to community development will strengthen your application. The Trust seeks future leaders capable of driving positive change in their home countries.
Course Relevance
Applicants must choose courses that align with the Trust’s focus areas, such as:

- Education and Economic Development
- Agriculture and Environmental Conservation
- Financial Software and Innovation
Please note that MBA programs are not supported.
Commitment to Return
A core requirement is the applicant’s commitment to return to their home country after completing their studies. This ensures that the skills and knowledge gained are reinvested into local communities and economies.
Selection Process
- Applications are shortlisted based on eligibility and merit.
- Interviews will be held in Lusaka, Harare, and Blantyre during the week of 20 April 2026.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews, and final scholarship awards will be based on overall performance.
How to Apply
Applicants should submit only one application and are encouraged to apply to more than one Beit Trust partner university to improve their chances. You may include up to four degree courses at universities in the UK and South Africa.
Required documents include:
- Degree certificates and academic transcripts
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Personal statement (maximum 300 words) detailing how your studies will benefit your country
- Recent photograph
- Valid passport (with sufficient blank pages)
- Three references: Academic, Character, and Employer (if applicable)
All documents must be uploaded in one sitting as the application cannot be saved midway.
