ASUU STRIKE: We Are Ready to Disrupt Presidential Primaries – NANS

The National Association of Nigerian students (NANS), Osun state Axis, has appeal to the management of the federal polytechnic Ede to reverse their decision on school fees increment.

Comrade Oyelayo Afeez Oyewole, NANS chairman Osun Axis made this appeal during the association word press conference on Saturday.

Comrade Oyewole said,

“We are charging the management of the Federal Polytechnic Ede to reverse their decision on school fees increment in a bid to further make life easier and better for students in this period of economic down where many are living from hands to mouth.”

Speaking on Security, the Chairman Commend the commissioner for police in OSUN state and Governor Gboyega Oyetola for providing peaceful atmosphere for students adding that Osun state is now one of the most peaceful state in Nigeria.

“We appreciate the Osun State Commissioner of Police for his ceaseless efforts in ensuring a safe atmosphere for Osun State students, as the student community never finds the Commissioner of Police wanting when needs arise.

“It’s imperative to state that at the time of this press conference Osun State is rated one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, all credit to the working Governor and C.P Taoheed Olawale for the Exceptional security master plan”

The chairman also call on Nigerian government to find a lasting solution to the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) so that students can return to class adding that the strike has downgraded university education.

“The leadership of NANS Osun Axis is using this glorious moment of our World press conference to implore the Federal Government to call for another negotiation between the two parties in a bid to put an end to the ongoing inglorious strike.

“We solidly stand on the position of NANS National Leadership of disrupting all presidential primaries, if the government failed to proffer a solution to the existing problem.”

The chairman further advise students to embrace peace and stay away from violence as the state prepares for gubernatorial election.

“As we are moving closer to the period of the Osun Gubernatorial election, where all citizens of age have an essential obligation to participate in the process of choosing leaders that would be overseeing the State affairs for the next four years.

“We are imploring the youth and students to serve as a greater tool for social engineering during the electioneering process.

“Let’s remember that as an individual, we would always be of diverse views on matters relating to politics, it’s on that note we implore all citizens, most specifically Students and youth to embrace peace and eschew all forms of political- related violence during electioneering process, in a bid to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the election.”
