Courses Offered in National Water Resources Institute Kaduna and Their School Fees & Admission Requirements
The National Water Resources Institute, a Parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources was established in 1979 under Decree No. 3 of March 2nd, 1985, currently referred to as National Water Resources Institute Act, cap No. 83, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. The institute being a capacity development and research organization is mandated to carry out training and retraining of water engineers, technologists and technicians in the water resources sector.
Also, as part of its mandates, the institute is charged with the responsibilities of providing training for various sector stakeholders on short courses and formulate programme of work in the water resources field in the country.
Below are the lists of the courses offered in the school.
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Water Resources Engineering Technology
- National Diploma (ND) in Water Resources Engineering Technology
- National Diploma (ND) in Hydrology and Water Resources Management
- National Diploma (ND) in Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology
- National Diploma (ND) in Computer Science
- National Diploma (ND) in Surveying and Geo-Informatics
- Advanced Diploma (AD) in Hydrogeology
- Certificate in Water Resources Engineering
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PROGRAMS
(A) Higher National Diploma (4 Semesters)
- National Diploma in Water Resources Engineering/ Civil Engineering, Irrigation Engineering or Agricultural Engineering & Bio-environmental Engineering Technology with a minimum of lower credit pass, and
- A minimum of one-year post-National Diploma cognate work experience in the field of engineering as stated above obtained from a Polytechnic accredited by the National Board for Technical Education.
- In addition, candidates must have satisfied the basic requirements for admission into the
(B) National Diploma Program.
National Diploma (4 Semesters)
- At least 5 credit passes at the GCE/WAEC (SSCE)/NECO which should include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and one other science subject (i.e. Biology, Agricultural Science, Geography, and Economics) at no more than two sittings.
- In addition, credit or pass in any of the following subjects will be an advantage: woodwork, Metal Work, Auto-mechanics, Basic Electronics, and Basic Electricity, Building Construction, Technical Drawing and Fine Art
- Any other requirement imposed by the National Board for Technical Education for admission into the National Diploma Program country wide. (JAMB)
(C.) Advance Diploma in Hydrogeology (2 Semesters)
HND/B.Sc in Water Resources Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology Geology, Geography and Irrigation Engineering Technology.
(D) Certificate (2 Semester)
- Candidates must have attempted WASC or GCE in the Sciences
- Craftsmen must have had at least three years’ experience in water related establishment.
- Assistant Works Superintendent Certificate (AWS)
E. PGD and master’s in integrated water resources management in collaboration with ABU, FUNAAB, University of Ilorin, University of University of Calabar, University of Maiduguri, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and NDA.
