Kaduna Poly Makes Bold Move: Solar Power Now Lights Up Female Hostel

In a major leap toward sustainable development and improved student welfare, Kaduna College of Agriculture and Animal science, Mando has begun the installation of solar panels at its female hostel — a game-changing initiative aimed at providing a more reliable and eco-friendly power supply for female students.
The ongoing project, hailed as a significant milestone, is already drawing praise from the student community, particularly female residents who have long hoped for more stable electricity on campus.
“This is more than just light — it’s about safety, comfort, and creating an environment where we can truly thrive,” one excited student remarked.

The initiative is the result of a collaborative effort between the institution’s leadership and the Students’ Union Government (SUG). Special appreciation has been extended to the institution’s Provost, Prof. A. M. Wakawa (DVM), whose visionary leadership continues to drive meaningful change across campus.
Equally celebrated is the role of SUG President, Comr. Abdulmajid Ibrahim, whose relentless advocacy helped bring the solar project to life. Under his leadership, the SUG has prioritized student-centered development and innovation.
“This is just the beginning,” said Comr. Ibrahim. “We’re committed to more forward-thinking projects that place student welfare at the heart of our agenda.”
With this solar installation, the Polytechnic joins the growing list of institutions embracing renewable energy solutions, signaling a new era of innovation and sustainability in Nigerian higher education.
