12th Matriculation: Shun Indecent Dressing, Cultism, Examination Malpractices- LensPoly Proprietor Tells New Students
The Proprietor of Lens Polytechnic, Dr. Azeez Yisa Bukky has re-affirmed that institution frowns against indecent dressing, cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices in the Polytechnic community.
The Proprietor gave the address at the 12th matriculation ceremony of the Polytechnic held on Thursday, February 29th, 2024 at the Lens University Campus.
In his address, Dr. Azeez congratulated the newly admitted students for gaining admission into the best private Polytechnic in Nigeria. He urged the students to take the best advantage of the available resources provided by the institution.
According to him, “You are in the best private Polytechnic in Nigeria, I want to admonish you to take advantage of all the opportunities available to you here. Get involved in students’ organizations that are legally registered in the school, participate in extracurricular activities and explore all the resources the Polytechnic has to offer. Get yourselves involved in tutorial activities, quiz competitions, interdepartmental debate and other social or sports activities.”
Speaking further, the Proprietor charged students to be creative and innovative, as creativity and innovation pave the way for talents to succeed in life.
In his words,” It is a ripe time to step out of your comfort zones and try new things. Join a creative clique, make friends with creative minds, and utilize the conducive atmosphere provided for you to think outside the box. Carve a niche for yourselves and embrace creativity.
“Through creativity and display of talent, the first Miss Lens became Miss Imo State, the second Miss Lens became Miss Oyo State and another Miss Lens is the current Miss Tourism for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
” Through creativity, two of our footballers from Lens football team are currently playing for Nigeria and two of our female students are currently in Ghana representing Nigeria in a Volleyball game. Similarly, many of our students were awarded at different NYSC camps for participating and winning debate competitions. These are standards we have set for ourselves, which we want you to emulate,” he added.
While giving a goodwill message, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Muhammad Mufutau Gbadamosi, Ajagungbade l, Esuwoye Il represented by Chief Asalofa of Offa, High Chief Isiaka Shittu congratulated the newly admitted students. He noted that Offa is friendly and accommodating and assured the students of a peaceful and conducive environment throughout their stay in the Offa community.
Furthermore, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin represented by Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Salimonu Isiaq Rasheed congratulated the new students and advised the students to be focused and dedicated to their academics. Dr. Salimonu also hinted at the Polytechnic of the NIPOGA 2024 that will be hosted in the Federal Polytechnic Offa as an opportunity for the students of Lens Polytechnic to participate in sporting activities.
Speaking on security tips, the Director of DSS Offa, O. A Ake advised students to be cautious of their whereabouts and be watchful of their public utterances. He admonished students not to forget the focus to succeed, which is the purpose of being in a higher institution.
Similarly, the Commandant, Nigeria Navy School of Health Sciences Offa, represented by Commander J.E Ita congratulated the matriculating students and advised them to follow all security tips as stated by security agents.
ASP. Idowu Aderemi, representing Offa Division Police Command said there is no law for students as Nigeria’s constitution covers all citizens, he charged the students to be security conscious and avoid social vices as earlier admonished by the Proprietor. He congratulated the newly admitted students and wished them success in life.
