TETFund Calls for Collective Action to Strengthen Nigeria’s Tertiary Education

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has stressed that building a globally competitive tertiary education system in Nigeria requires collective responsibility and stronger collaboration among all stakeholders.
This call was made during a town hall meeting with stakeholders from TETFund-supported institutions in the North East over the weekend.
Speaking at the event, Sani Danladi, former Acting Governor of Taraba State and member of the TETFund board, said higher education can only become a true driver of growth and innovation when institutions, communities, industries, and civil society work together.
Danladi highlighted some of the board’s recent interventions under the leadership of Chairman Aminu Masari, noting that ₦70 billion from the 2025 intervention fund was allocated for the development of mini power grids across 18 tertiary institutions. He added that beyond financing academic staff for advanced studies, the Fund is investing in projects that will provide sustainable infrastructure for schools.
“The responsibility of shaping the future of Nigerian higher education cannot rest solely on the Fund or government institutions. It requires collaboration, shared ownership, and active participation from all of us,” he said.
He further explained that fostering innovation-driven ecosystems within universities and polytechnics would help transform knowledge into industries capable of creating jobs and strengthening the economy.
Danladi assured stakeholders that TETFund would maintain its reform-focused agenda, in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope vision, while continuing to deliver impactful interventions across tertiary institutions nationwide.
