Education ministry approves 47 NBTE staff’s promotion

The Federal Ministry of Education has approved the promotion and confirmation of 47 senior staff members of the National Board for Technical Education.
According to the Board’s Head of the Media Unit, Fatimah Abubakar, in a statement in Kaduna on Monday, the decision was conveyed through a letter dated March 13, 2025, and signed by the Ministry’s Director of Human Resources, Omotayo F. Adeyemi.
It noted that the approval was granted to ensure continued institutional growth and operational efficiency, despite the absence of the NBTE Governing Board since March 2021.
The promoted staff members include nine Acting Directors who were confirmed as substantive Directors after undergoing written examinations and a formal oral interview.
The statement also expressed hope that the Federal Government would establish a new Governing Board for the NBTE this year, saying, “We are hopeful that President Bola Tinubu will set up a new Governing Board for the NBTE this year. This will enable the Board to function optimally and deliver on its mandate.”
The statement, titled ‘FME Approves Promotion and Confirmation of 47 NBTE Staff,’ read, “The Federal Ministry of Education has approved the promotion and confirmation of forty-seven (47) senior staff members of the National Board for Technical Education.
“This decision, conveyed through a letter referenced TEB/VOL.XIX/39 and dated March 13, 2025, was signed by Omotayo F. Adeyemi, the Ministry’s Director of Human Resources.
“This approval was granted in the absence of the NBTE Governing Board to ensure continued institutional growth and operational efficiency.
“However, the request for the confirmation of nine (9) Acting Directors as substantive Directors was made after the candidates had undertaken written examinations and a formal oral interview.
“The Federal Ministry of Education remains dedicated to fostering excellence in leadership and ensuring that proper structures are in place for effective policy implementation.
“The National Board for Technical Education has been without a Governing Board since March 2021, and there is a renewed hope that this year His Excellency President Bola Tinubu will set up one to ensure the smooth running and fast delivery of services by the Board as provided for in the NBTE Act,” the statement added.
