JAMB spends N113.8m supervising UTME in seven countries

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board spent the sum of N113.8m on supervision across seven foreign centres where candidates sat the 2025 Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination on July 12, 2025.
The seven foreign centres are situated in Buea, Cameroon, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, London in the United Kingdom, Johannesburg in South Africa, Lome in Togo, Cotonou in Benin Republic and Accra, Ghana.
The board noted that the foreign UTME component enhanced the global visibility of Nigerian tertiary institutions by encouraging international students to enrol.
Recall that last year, JAMB conducted the UTME in eight foreign countries, demonstrating its commitment to promoting Nigerian education worldwide.
The board on Monday said it had incorporated the number of foreign students admitted as a criterion for the NATAP M-Award, recognising institutions that excel in international student recruitment.
“The 2024 foreign UTME was conducted in London, United Kingdom, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Cameroon, Accra, Ghana, Cotonou, Benin Republic, Johannesburg, South Africa, Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire and Banjul, The Gambia.
“This initiative has successfully attracted international students to Nigerian universities.
“Furthermore, JAMB has incorporated the number of foreign students admitted by an institution as a criterion for the NATAP M-Award, recognising institutions that excel in international student recruitment,” JAMB said.
