OGITECH’s Best Graduates Gets N6m Award

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has demonstrated his commitment to academic excellence by awarding a total of N6m to the best graduating students of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa.
Governor Abiodun made this announcement during the 6th Combined Convocation Ceremony of OGITECH, where he emphasized the importance of rewarding exceptional academic performance.
The monetary reward, which includes N2 million each for the three overall best students, reflects the governor’s dedication to fostering educational development across Ogun State.
Represented by his Deputy, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun commended OGITECH for its pivotal role in nurturing a skilled workforce that contributes to industrial growth and economic development in Nigeria.
He highlighted his administration’s commitment to providing high-quality education that meets global standards, underscoring the institution’s significance as a center of academic excellence and technological advancement.
In a convocation lecture themed ‘Technological Education and the Realities of Nigerian Industrial Advancement,’ delivered by Prof Ramon Adisa Bello, the ongoing global industrial revolution and its implications for Nigeria’s industrial sector were discussed.
Prof Bello stressed the importance of equipping Nigerian students with the necessary skills to thrive in an increasingly technological world, positioning institutions like OGITECH as pivotal in this endeavour.
Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, the Rector of OGITECH, highlighted the institution’s rapid growth and accreditation status across all programmes, affirming its role as a leading technical hub in Nigeria.
With a total of 9,320 graduates from various disciplines, OGITECH continues to prepare students not only academically but also with practical skills essential for global competitiveness.
The Acting Chairman of the Governing Council, Chief Kola Sorinola, acknowledged Governor Abiodun’s support in enhancing institutional achievements and urged graduates to uphold the values instilled in them during their academic journey.
In his valedictory speech, Ismail Afeez Olamilekan, the overall best graduating student, expressed gratitude for the institution’s impact on his personal and academic growth.
He encouraged his fellow graduates to remain resilient and focused as they embark on their future endeavours.
The convocation also featured the conferment of Honourary Fellowship awards to distinguished personalities, including Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Governor of Ogun State, who praised OGITECH for its role in nurturing future innovators and leaders.
