KOGI POLY RECTOR CHARGES SECURITY OPERATIVES TO SUSTAIN WORK ETHICS

… AS SECURITY UNIT HOLDS TRAINING, WORKSHOP FOR PERSONNEL
Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, has charged internal security operatives of the Polytechnic to sustain high standards of work ethics and professionalism in an effort to checkmate unlawful and criminal activities within the campus.
Dr. Usman gave the charge at the Training and Retraining Workshop organized for Internal Security Men held at the Hall “A” Main Campus, Lokoja on Tuesday 12th March, 2024.
The Rector who was ably represented by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Samuel Taiwo Olowo, congratulated participants for making it to the training and retraining session which would further equip them with latest knowledge in security activities.
Dr. Usman commended the Chief Security Officer, (CSO) of the Polytechnic Mr. Emmanuel Onuh for his diligence in carrying out his assignment and urged him to sustain the tempo.
He also praised the security men for their efforts in ensuring a safe and secure environment on campus and urged them to continue to be vigilant and proactive in their duties, and to work closely with other staff and students to foster a sense of community and cooperation.
He urged participants to make the most out of the training, just as he charged them to continue working together to create a safe and secure environment for the entire Polytechnic community.
The Guest Speaker who is the Deputy Director of State Security Service. Mr. John Agada, discussed the “Concept of National Security Viz a Viz the Threat of National Security”, highlighting the vital role that national security play in ensuring the stability and prosperity of a nation.
According to him, the various threats to National Security includes politics, religion, forceful conversion, cultism, Student Unionism and kidnapping, amongst others.
In his word, “There is the need for a holistic approach to national security, and stakeholders must work together to create a safer and more secure future for all.”
Earlier, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Polytechnic, Mr. Emmanuel Onuh expressed deep gratitude to the Rector for his support and encouragement, which have been instrumental to the success of the security team.
In his words, “The Rector’s encouragement has been a driving force behind the security team’s work.”
Whilst acknowledging the Rector’s efforts in providing adequate facilities and equipment to combat crimes, Mr. Onuh commended the Management’s leadership and vision, which have helped to shape the team’s strategy and approach.
The training Session was graced by the Polytechnic Registrar, Elder Sunday Aiyeetan, the Bursar, Mr. Adeika Obadaki Obaro, Senior Police Officer –SIB, Mr. Kehinde Adebayo, Senior Police Officer–SIB, Mr Akachi Muhammed amongst others.
