Is It True Virgins Don’t Cheat and Are Good for Marriage? – The Hidden Truth About Virginity and Loyalty
A lot of people still believe that if a woman is a virgin, she can’t cheat – some even think disvirgining her means you “own” her forever. Others swear that marrying a virgin automatically guarantees loyalty. But let’s be real – is that actually true, or is it just another sweet-sounding lie society keeps feeding us?
As someone who has been in relationships with more than four virgins, I’ve seen the reality up close. This article is not here to bash virginity – but to tear apart the myths tying it to loyalty and marriage success. If you’ve been holding on to this belief, it’s time to wake up before you fool yourself.
Is it true that virgins don’t cheat and are good for marriage?
Virginity and cheating is one of the most debated topics. Some people argue that virgins don’t cheat – or can never cheat – whether in a relationship or marriage. Some also believe that if you disvirgin a woman, you “own” her forever. Is this true? As a sex therapist who has dated nothing less than four virgins, I’m here to expose the truth.
What does cheating mean in a relationship?
Cheating in a relationship, also known as infidelity, generally involves a breach of the trust and exclusivity expected in a committed partnership. It typically refers to engaging in romantic or sexual relationships with someone outside the established relationship, without the consent or knowledge of the partner. This can encompass emotional, sexual, or even cyber cheating. Cheating can be double dating, pretending to be single while in a serious relationship, and other acts of betrayal. Virginity has no connection with cheating.
First of all, virginity means different things to different people. Some believe you’re a virgin until you’ve had penis-in-vagina sex, others until you’ve had oral or anal sex, and some until they’ve experienced masturbation. People also keep their virginity for various reasons – religion, marriage, personal decision, or cultural heritage.
Now the real question: does being a virgin mean a woman can’t cheat? The answer is simple – No! Being a virgin doesn’t stop anyone from cheating because cheating is a personal choice. She can do various things apart from penetration.

The Virgin Who Cheated on Me
I once dated a virgin who had been with her boyfriend for a few years. She told me they weren’t on good terms, and that’s how we started dating. I was the first man to penetrate her. Later, her so-called ex reached out, telling me to stay away from his girlfriend and how much she had invested in their relationship.
I ignored him. She begged me, I forgave her – but guess what? She went back to him. I caught them through her chats, even with a married man. This was the same woman I disvirgined. Her cheating was the reason the relationship ended.
Lesson: Virginity is one thing; self-discipline, morals, and wife-material qualities are another. A woman can be a virgin and still lack wife qualities.

Virginity Myths and Relationship Compatibility
As morality continues to fade in the Gen Z era, many men put too much emphasis on virginity. “Just give me any virgin, I’ll marry her like that,” one guy tweeted. I laughed. People keep mixing virginity with morals and compatibility.
While it’s commendable for a woman to keep her virginity, it’s not a yardstick for compatibility. Virginity is a one-time thing, but personality is forever. If you marry your enemy just because she’s a virgin, you may regret it when her true colours show.
A Nigerian celebrity married a virgin – their marriage still crashed. Virginity didn’t save it.
Lesson: Virginity doesn’t fix compatibility. Marriage works when both parties put in effort, not because one person was a virgin.
My First Experience
I started dating at 21. She was 19, both of us virgins and clueless about sex. We fell in love and later had sex. The relationship lasted barely six months because of constant arguments. She later married someone else the same year, meaning she had been seeing him while we were together.
Lesson: Virginity doesn’t mean loyalty.

Another Experience
I once dated a 19-year-old who had just lost her virginity to her corper boyfriend. Before that, she did sex chats and had multiple online boyfriends. I thought she was wife material because she had “kept” her virginity, but I was wrong – character doesn’t lie, but virginity can deceive.
Anonymous Confessions
I’ve listened to many men who lost their virgin girlfriends to other men before marriage. Virginity won’t stop a woman from sleeping with someone else. Loyalty is a choice, not a byproduct of virginity.
Yes, there are women who stay loyal to one man until marriage – but using virginity as the main loyalty test is misleading.
Virginity vs. Loyalty vs. Wife Material
Being a virgin doesn’t guarantee she won’t cheat. Before you marry her, check for compatibility. Not all virgins are honest – some lie, some can be worse after marriage. If a woman is loyal, it’s because she chooses to be. Virginity means different things; loyalty means faithfulness and honesty.

Virgins Don’t Go Back to Their Exes?
Not true. Out of the four virgins I dated, two went back to their exes. Going back to an ex is about emotional connection, not virginity. Both men and women do it, virgin or not.
Final Truth
A woman will cheat if she wants to – virginity won’t stop her. Virginity lasts for a day, but character lasts for life. If you think virginity guarantees loyalty, ask yourself: what happens when it’s gone?
Conclusion: Marrying a virgin doesn’t mean she won’t cheat. Virginity has nothing to do with loyalty or compatibility. When choosing who to marry, look beyond the virginity label and go for true wife material.
