Is it true that Polytechnic part-time and evening graduates will no longer be mobilized for NYSC?

There is a latest development trending in speculated areas that HND graduates who studied under the part-time program during their National Diploma (ND) level will no longer be mobilized for the one-year mandatory NYSC. Is this true? Find out the latest development below.

I got my ND through a part-time program. Will I go for NYSC after my HND?

According to the latest development, if you got your ND through a part-time program, you may be excluded from participating in the one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) despite successful jamb regularization. The reason is that only full-time students are eligible for the NYSC program. Although this policy has been in existence for a long time, part-time graduates do not qualify for NYSC, but most schools mobilized their graduates for the program after successful jamb regularization.

What does this mean?

It means that if you obtained your ND certificate through a part-time program, you may be excluded from the NYSC program. That is, after your HND program, you may not be mobilized for the program; instead, you will be issued a “NYSC exemption certificate.”

I did a part-time programme during my ND and full-time in HND. Should I be worried?

Yes, you should be worried. From our investigation, we learned that all polytechnic managements are already aware of this development, and they’re working towards resolving it, but the final resolution is that part-time graduates are no longer eligible for NYSC program.

Unfortunately, some school’s management said the issue is from Jamb, while Jamb is directing the concerned students to the school authority. This has caused confusion among polytechnic students currently studying under the part-time program and those that have completed their Jamb regularization.

How do I know if this issue affects me?

After your jamb regularization, check your jamb registration number if “P” is added at the end of your registration number. The “P” predicament indicates part-time and as such you will be issued a NYSC exemption certificate after your HND.

I did a Full-time Evening program in ND and full-time in HND. Am I eligible for NYSC?

No, you’re not eligible, this latest development affects those admitted outside JAMB CAP both the part time and evening program. However, if the “P” predicament is indicated on your registration number after regularization, please contact your school for guidance to avoid confusion.

FINAL VERDICT:

The news that polytechnic graduates who got their ND through a part-time Programme will no longer serve is very true. It is not a rumor. In fact, as of the time of gathering this report, we can confirm to you that polytechnic graduates that did jamb regularization are facing mobilization issues despite successful registration.

A polytechnic graduate sharing his experience regarding jamb regularization on Twitter said: “I went to DSA, and he said people who do part-time in ND and do full-time in HND won’t serve because only full-time ND will serve, and we should take heart.”

9jaPolyTv has received several calls and messages regarding this, and it is unfortunate that there is no solution at this moment as Jamb insists part-time graduates are not eligible for the program.

What is the solution?

To clarify your stand and avoid any misinformation, I urge you to contact your institution for further information and guidance. Thank you.
