Is Frimoni a Legit Loan App or Just Another Loan Shark in Disguise? (Honest Review)

When the need for quick cash arises, many Nigerians turn to loan apps for instant help. But not all of them are created equal. Some give you peace of mind, while others leave you regretting ever clicking the “apply” button. One of such loan apps is Frimoni—and no, don’t confuse it with FairMoney, a trusted and reputable loan app in Nigeria.
While FairMoney, Branch, Carbon, Aella Credit, and a few others have earned users’ trust over the years, Frimoni has developed a reputation that raises eyebrows. If you’ve been wondering, “Is Frimoni legit or just another scam?” here’s an honest review from real experience.
Is Frimoni Legit?
Technically, Frimoni is legit because it is licensed to operate as a digital lender in Nigeria. However, being “legit” on paper doesn’t necessarily mean they’re a good choice for borrowers. From my honest experience, I would say Frimoni behaves more like a loan shark than a financial partner.
How Frimoni Operates
Frimoni offers short-term loans ranging from 7 to 14 days with extremely high interest rates. While they disburse loans quickly, the repayment structure is designed to put borrowers under financial pressure.
For example, I applied for a loan of ₦74,400. Instead of disbursing the full amount, they credited me with ₦67,290 but expected me to repay ₦92,800 in just two installments within 14 weeks. I managed to pay the first installment, but when I couldn’t meet up with the second, things took a terrible turn.
Customer Service Experience
If you’re hoping for friendly customer service, Frimoni might disappoint you. Their customer service agents are rude, aggressive, and frustrating. Once you default, even by a day, they bombard you with endless calls and harassment that won’t allow you to breathe.
Several borrowers have also complained about defamation and threats from Frimoni whenever they miss repayments. This kind of approach only makes an already tough financial situation worse.

The Downsides of Using Frimoni
- Very short repayment period (7–14 days)
- High interest rates that leave you in deeper debt
- Harassment and threats if you default
- Customer service is harsh and unprofessional
- Defamation of defaulters reported by many users
How to Borrow from Frimoni
If you still want to give them a try (though I don’t recommend it), here’s how the process works:
- Download the Frimoni app.
- Register with your BVN and phone number.
- Your credit score will be checked.
- A loan will be approved and disbursed.
Warning: Never drop your WhatsApp number while borrowing from them because once you owe, they will use it to disturb you endlessly until you repay.
Final Verdict: Should You Borrow from Frimoni?
If you need peace of mind while borrowing, Frimoni is not the app for you. The short repayment periods, high interest, and harassment make it a very risky choice. Unless you are 100% certain you can pay back on time, it’s better to avoid them completely because they will show you “premium shege.”
Instead, consider using trusted loan apps in Nigeria such as:
- FairMoney
- Branch
- Carbon
- Aella Credit
- Renn Money
- QuickCheck
These apps provide better repayment options, friendlier customer service, and won’t frustrate you in the process.
Frimoni may be licensed, but their practices make them feel more like a loan shark than a reliable financial partner. If you truly want stress-free borrowing, go for apps that care about customers, not ones that harass them.
