The Students’ Union of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, has issued a stern warning to students over what it describes as inappropriate dressing on campus. In an official notice dated May 12, 2025, the Union relayed the School Management’s disapproval of the increasing trend in indecent dress styles among students.
According to the memo addressed to all students, both male and female students have been instructed to stop wearing bathroom slippers, transparent shirts, and other fashion items considered unsuitable for an academic environment.
The notice reads:
“Male and Female Students are advised to stop wearing Bathroom Slippers or tiny rope fancy rubber slippers. Ladies should avoid wearing TRANSPARENT Shirts while Male students should ensure standard haircut.”
The school also issued a direct warning that non-compliance could lead to disciplinary action, including the confiscation of student ID cards, which may result in the student being sent home.
The statement, signed by the General Secretary Comr. Jayeola Hussain, Executive President Comr. Woleola Kehinde Olawole, and P.R.O Comr. Majengbasan Roqeeb B., emphasized that the directive is effective immediately.
Students are urged to adjust their wardrobe choices to align with the school’s expectations and avoid unnecessary confrontations with authorities.
