How to Start a Money Lending Business in Nigeria and Get Licensed

• Completing the CAC 1.1 pre-registration form
• Paying stamp duty and filing fees
• Uploading documents such as CAC1.1, MEMART, ID of directors and secretary, proficiency certificate, stamp duty certificate, and payment evidence
  After uploading, the original copies must be submitted at the CAC office for final approval.

Step 2: Application to the Magistrate Court

Once incorporated, apply to the Magistrate Court with:

• Application letter
• Certificate of incorporation
• Memorandum and Articles of Association
• Tax clearance certificate
• Police clearance
• Evidence of an active bank account
• Certified CAC forms 2 and 7

If approved, you will be issued Form B of the Money Lending Ordinance, which allows you to proceed to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Step 3: Application at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Tourism

Here, you are required to:

• Pay ₦10,000 to purchase the money lender certificate
• Obtain an invoice of ₦50,000
• Submit your application with Form B, Form C, incorporation certificate, police report from the Commissioner of Police, PAYE certificate, and three years’ tax clearance certificate

Step 4: Office Inspection and Licensing

The Ministry will conduct a physical inspection of your business office. Once successful, your Money Lending Permit will be issued, officially authorizing you to operate as a lender in Nigeria.
