The U.S. Fulbright-Swiss Scholarship Program is now accepting applications for the 2026–2027 academic year, offering an exceptional opportunity for Swiss students, academic professionals, and researchers to study, teach, or conduct research in the United States. This renowned international exchange program fosters cultural understanding and academic collaboration while connecting participants to a global network of over 360,000 Fulbright alumni.

About the Fulbright Program

The Fulbright Program is the flagship educational exchange initiative of the U.S. government, operating in more than 160 countries worldwide. In Switzerland, the program offers two distinct tracks for eligible applicants:

1. Fulbright Foreign Student Program

This stream supports Swiss students aiming to pursue:

  • Master’s or PhD degree programs
  • Non-degree academic coursework
  • Research at the doctoral level

Duration & Funding: Grants typically last between four to ten months. The standard one-year grant is valued at approximately $20,000 USD and covers tuition and academic-related expenses.

2. Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program

Designed for post-doctoral researchers, university faculty members, and academic professionals affiliated with recognized Swiss institutions, this program allows recipients to:

  • Conduct research
  • Deliver academic lectures
  • Engage in teaching and research activities

Duration:
Successful applicants may spend up to ten months at a host university or research institute in the United States.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Fulbright Program in Switzerland, applicants must:

  • Be Swiss citizens affiliated with accredited Swiss universities or research institutions
  • Demonstrate strong academic records and proficiency in English
  • Submit all required documentation by the application deadline

Note:

  • U.S. citizens are not eligible to apply through the Swiss Fulbright Program and should apply through the U.S. domestic application portal.
  • Non-Swiss nationals must apply through the Fulbright commission or U.S. Embassy in their country of citizenship.

Final Deadline: August 5, 2025

Candidates planning to begin their academic or research activities in the United States during the 2026–2027 academic cycle must ensure their applications are submitted before this date.
