FPI RECTOR, Dr Aluko Charges New Students to Uphold Integrity
The Rector of the Federal polytechnic Ilaro, ogun state, Dr Aluko has advised the newly admitted students of 2021/2022 Academic session to uphold the integrity, hard work and discipline as the institution remain the best in Nigeria.
The Rector stated this during the just concluded 26th Matriculation Ceremony held on Wednesday 6th April 2022 for the 2021/2022 academic session.
This Matriculation which marks the official acceptance of fresh students into the institution doubles as the Valedictory Matriculation Ceremony for the Rector Acr. Olusegun Olusegun Olanrewaju Aluko PhD.
Aluko in his speech discribed the 2022/2023 matriculants as his last born and as such encouraged them to continue in the legacies of the Institution which are integrity, hard work and discipline aimed towards development, in the pursuit of their academic career.
He added that the institution has all it takes in the area of skill acquisition , technology and manpower to make the student what ever good they want to be .
While wishing them a beautiful and productive stay in the institution, he however warned the students not to use the the skills acquired in the area of unmanned area vehicles I .e drones, robotics artificial intelligence and coding for any fraudulent activity rather it should spore them to be innovative and creative.
The Rector added that any activity that is not in tandem with the culture of the Polytechnic will definitely come with it’s consequences.
Meanwhile the Directorate of Student Affairs had organize an orientation programme for the fresh students a day before matriculation 5th April 2022
The orientation was to sensitize the students on the do’s and don’ts of the Institution, aquint them with the culture and acceptable behaviour for a successful stay in the institution in order to have a smooth academic session.
Speaking at the event the Rector, Acr. Olusegun Olanrewaju Aluko ably represented by the Deputy Rector Engr.I k Ogunfayo Congratulated the student on their admission stating that they were lucky to be admitted into the best Polytechnic in Nigeria. She therefore, enjoined them to shun all vices and focused on the main purpose why they are in the institution, not to give room for distraction which could only lead to destruction.
Also, present was the Polytechnic librarian Dr. Bola Atuluma who admonised the fresh students to invest their time well by using the rich facilities made available for them in the library instead of waisting time on irrelevant discussions and gathering.
Among many other paper delivered at orientation are registration an important aspect of studentship in tertiary institution delivered by director deputy registrar academics Mrs A. Babatola, Functions of the Directorate of Student Affairs and welfare facilities on campus take by Mr Omomunmi Dean Students affairs who also reiterated the stand of the school at having no tolerance for indiscipline of any sorts.
The orientation had in attendance representatives from different units of the Polytechnic delivered papers presentations on vital topic areas ranging from, physical psychological emotional educational well being to mention but a few that will better the stay of the student in the Polytechnic and having the opportunity of emerging in flying colours at the end of their diploma years.
